How can I protect WordPress website core files?

On this page:

Unauthorised changes to WordPress core files can be dangerous and prevent the installation from passing a checksum. Our Checksum tool checks the core files of the WordPress installation and determines if they match those of the official WordPress core repository. If the core WordPress files have been modified, then you’ll be notified via this tool.

WordPress Website Checksum Report

  1. Reach your Web Hosting Control Panel
  2. Choose your website from the list
  3. Click [Log in to Control Panel]
  4. Select [WordPress Settings]
  5. Select [Checksum Report]
    1. If your installation verifies against the WordPress checksum, you’ll receive the success message
    2. If your installation contains modified or missing core files, you’ll be shown which files are missing and an option to automatically re-install those whilst preserving your WordPress installation
